An open letter to antique tractor and equipment collectors:

The U.P. Steam and Gas Engine Association, Inc. would like to invite you to participate in our annual Labor Day weekend show, August 30, 31 and September 1, 2008, at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba, Michigan.

This year's show will feature Ford, Fordson and Ferguson. (For more information on this equipment, check out the quick links at the end of this letter.)

For your enjoyment, the Association offers a wide variety of attractions including tractor games, daily parades, a flea market, and an antique village that includes pottery making, candle making, spinning yarn, food shops and more. We have a working saw mill (1861 vintage), steamed sweet corn, and an array of gas engines, steam and gas tractors, and various equipment displays. We also have a gun and knife show and a museum of antique artifacts, and we'll be hosting an antique auction as well. We're planning a good old-fashioned barn dance for Saturday night, complete with refreshments and live music. Bright and early Sunday morning we'll have a non-denominational church service.

As always there will be trophies for best in class and free admission for exhibitors. For your camping convenience we have showers and an abundance of electricity and water. We start every morning with special a exhibitor's breakfast.

The Escanaba area, located at the top of Lake Michigan, is filled with things to see and do for the whole family. Water, forest and shopping are abundant. The area also has many fine restaurants and lodgings. You may want to visit the world-renowned Marbles Knife factory and showroom. If your pleasure is entertainment and gambling, there is a nearby casino. (For more information about the area check out the quick links at the end of this letter.)

We hope you will join us at our 33rd Annual Show.

And don't forget that you can also spend the holidays with us. Visit us December 5 and 6 for our 2008 Christmas in the Village event.
